Welcome to Essence by Mod Inspirada

Handcrafted Boutique Candles

Welcome to a candle experience crafted with intention and care. Each of our hand-poured candles is made in Ohio using all-American 100% soy wax with no additives, poured into American-made glass vessels whenever available for a refined, boutique feel. Our phthalate-free fragrances are chosen for their clean, sophisticated aroma, creating a luxurious burn that elevates everyday moments into small rituals of calm. Because every candle is made to order, please allow a 3–5 day lead time before shipping as your piece is poured, cured, and prepared just for you. While our full commerce site is being thoughtfully built, all orders are currently fulfilled through our Etsy shop, where you can enjoy the same high-end quality and attentive small-batch service you’d expect from a modern, professional candle studio.

Candle Safety and Directions

Candle Safety

  • Always burn within sight; never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Extinguish all candles before leaving a room or going to sleep.
  • Keep candles away from anything that can catch fire (curtains, bedding, paper, décor, etc.).
  • Maintain at least 12 inches of space between a candle and flammable objects.
  • Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
  • Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant, flat surface.
  • Use appropriate, sturdy, nonflammable candle holders or containers.
  • Trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch before each burn.
  • Keep the wax pool free of matches, wick trimmings, and other debris.
  • Do not burn a candle for more than 3–4 hours at a time.
  • Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting or handling.
  • Never touch or move a candle while the wax is liquefied.
  • Stop burning when about 1/2 inch of wax remains in a container (2 inches for pillars/tapers).
  • Keep burning candles at least 3 inches apart from one another.
  • Avoid burning candles in drafty areas (vents, fans, open windows) to prevent uneven burning and sooting.
  • Do not use candles near flammable liquids or in areas where oxygen is in use.
  • Never use a candle as a night light or while you sleep.
  • Do not burn candles if the container is cracked, chipped, or damaged.
  • Extinguish a candle if it repeatedly flickers, smokes, or the flame becomes too high.
  • Use a snuffer or gently dip the wick into melted wax to extinguish; avoid blowing hard to reduce splatter.

Candle burning tips for best results

  • Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each burn to promote a steady flame and reduce soot.
  • Always burn long enough for the wax to melt edge-to-edge to create a full melt pool and prevent tunneling.
  • Follow the “one hour per inch of diameter” rule on the first burn (e.g., a 3-inch candle = about 3 hours) for an even memory burn.
  • Burn in sessions of about 1–4 hours; avoid extra-long burns that cause wick “mushrooming” and excess smoke.
  • Keep candles away from drafts, vents, fans, and open windows to avoid uneven burning and black marks on the glass.
  • Ensure the candle is on a level, heat-resistant surface so the wax pool stays even.
  • Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches, or debris so the candle burns cleanly.
  • If the flame becomes too high or flickers excessively, extinguish, let cool, trim the wick, and relight.
  • Stop use when about 1/4–1/2 inch of wax remains to protect the container and surface underneath.
  • Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve fragrance and color.
